The university-level student advisor
The Bachelor program requires 173 credits, consisting of 136 credits in spring/fall semesters, 4 credits in senior projects, 18 credits in summer practice and military training, and 15 credits of a final thesis. The courses are classified into five categories: Humanities and Social Sciences, core engineering courses, core Industrial Engineering courses, summer practice and internship, and a thesis component.
International programs have been initiated since 2001 including Tsinghua-Aachen joint master program and Tsinghua-Gatech exchange program. And a two-year, professional-orientated master’s program in Management Science and Engineering (Global Manufacturing) was founded in 2009 for students with a global vision in management science and engineering, with special focus on the manufacturing industry in China.
The doctoral degree program usually lasts 3 to 5 years. Students with Master’s degree usually spend 3 to 4 years. The program has 22 credits consisting of 13 credits of core courses, and 5 credits of research requirements. Students without an IE related Master’s degree shall take prerequisite courses suggested by the advisor.
Admissions to the International Program of Master of Engineering Management (iMEM)
On November 8-9, Mr. Alan Harding, Chairman of INCOSE, and Ms. Courtney Wright, Project Manager of INCOSE paid a visit to the Department of Industrial Engineering. On the morning of November 8, Department Head Zuojun Shen, Associate Department Head Lefei Li and some faculty members attended the talks. Both sides initiated discussion on the integration of engineering education, systems engineering, industrial engineering and application of system engineering in policy development, and had a negotiation on related affairs of Chinese Systems Engineer Certified.

After the meeting, Mr. Alan Harding visited Logistics Engineering Laboratory, Digital Enterprise and Simulation Laboratory, Human Factors Engineering Laboratory and "Model Factory" Laboratory of the department.

On the afternoon of November 8, Prof. Li Zheng held a discussion with the visitors. The two sides had extensive exchange about systems engineering related theory, content, method and technology, with focus on cooperation matters. Mr. Alan Harding said that he would work together with INCOSE, Beijing branch to improve the influence of INCOSE in China, explore the promotion of systems engineering and systems thinking in government work, advance the state of the art and practice of systems engineering in industry and academia of China, and promote international collaboration in systems engineering practice, education, and research.
