On September 13, 2015, 52 undergraduate freshmen of Grade 2015 of Department of Industrial Engineering, Tsinghua University finished their three-week military training and started their brand-new campus life at Tsinghua. Having entered the campus for nearly one month, the students have participated in a variety of orientation activities. Having experienced the excitement of acquaintance and the rigorous military training, the students now are able to express themselves and show their talents, adding the brightest color to the beginning of their campus life, which also demonstrated the unique characters of the IEers.
On the early morning of August 19, the teachers in charge, counsellors and 38 volunteers gave a warm welcome to the new students. From 8 am to 4 pm, they kept helping the freshmen with their registration procedures, providing any help to the students when needed regardless of the hot sun. With the enthusiastic help of their senior schoolmates, all new students successfully get in their dorm. The freshmen, which are soon to become the most shining new masters here, have started looking forward to their university life.
On the evening of August 20, Grade-2015 students attended the first team training camp. The team training camp started with a video about the combination of learning, life and research to show a colorful and worth looking forward blueprint for college life. Next, IE4.0 version of "If You are The One" let everyone know each other and be close to each other. The building was full of laugh. Finally, to break the ice for the campus visiting team, the planning designed the game "you play I guess", in which all students performed pleasantly.
The second team training camp started on the evening of August 25th. In the previous cross-country game, students not only easily cracked the puzzle, found the target location, successfully completed the designated task, but also successfully completed a lot of additional tasks. In the exhibition of campus visiting, students showed their skills with video shooting or series of skits and through a variety of forms. Next, new students played a game “blind queuing” and their hands-on ability, teamwork ability got exercised.
At the same time, from August 23rd, the military training began. In three weeks, students participated in military training, completed physical examination, visited the history museum and library, attended basketball games and other activities. Students completed the military theory and skill training.
The later camping training showed the strong spirit of the freshmen. In the awarding ceremony of military training graduation, our students remarkable achievements: the joint team formed by the department of industrial engineering and engineering physics were awarded 2015 Military Training Outstanding Team, and the Department of Industrial Engineering was awarded Military Service Excellence, class 52 won Outstanding Team award, and the department won the Military Style Discipline Excellence award.
On September 8th, at the third teaching building, the new IE dream show set sail. Fourteen teams with fourteen dreams came to this platform for free presentation. They were enthusiastic about public welfare, or creative. After each dream was displayed, invited professors and counselors provided suggestions and encouragement to the students. At the end of the dream show, senior representative Cong Ren shared his dream of teaching.
Now the grade 2015 freshmen have officially opened their new life and everything is a new beginning. We believe that the flying camouflage will always be their memory. Wish their dream grow in the following four years of life at IE!
