【Abstract】The presentation will include two parts: 1) the introduction of RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) group in Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), including what we are doing in research, education and international collaborations. 2) The introduction of my recent studies on safety barriers. Safety barriers are located in many complex systems to reduce the occurrence of hazardous events and mitigate their consequences. Reliability and availability of safety barriers are always regarded as important for assets. Recently, we are focusing on the performance of barriers in a more complex environment, considering their functions to stop interdependent failures, and avoid systematic accidents. On the other hand, we are also studying prognostics and predictive maintenances of technical safety barriers.
【Short Bio】Liu, Yiliu has been an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) since the beginning of 2013. Before that, he had worked as a post doctor fellow in the same department from 2011 to 2012. His main research interests include system reliability and resilience engineering, barrier theory and risk management. Dr Liu is very active now in the relevant fields, with publishing 80 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers.
Dr. Liu serves as the director of the international master program of RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety). He has deeply involved in some research projects funded by NTNU, Norwegian research council, Norwegian ministry of foreign affairs, Norwegian and international industry partners, and European Union. In addition, Dr. Liu has a robust international network and several on-going projects for research and educational collaborations with universities in different countries.
