The program was initiated in 2001 under the agreement between Tsinghua University and RWTH Aachen University, Germany. This joint master’s degree program offers four tracks: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Thermal Engineering. This program aims to cultivate engineering leaders with a strong ability to engage in innovative scientific research, pursue practical engineering, and communicate across cultures through courses, research and industrial internship opportunities. 45 to 60 graduate students from Tsinghua or RWTH Aachen will be sent to conduct one or one and a half years of study and an internship at each university. To date, hundreds of students have graduated and have been awarded the dual degrees issued by Tsinghua and RWTH Aachen.
