【Title】 Operation Management After Crisis

【Abstract】 I will discuss the recent financial crisis and some mathematical models behind the scene, to emphasize the importance of understanding the assumptions and limitations of mathematical models. I will then review some research in operations management that deals with disruption management, and discuss challenges and future research opportunities. In addition, this talk will briefly introduce other recent research projects in production systems and health care systems, etc.

【Bio Sketch】Dr. Shen is Chancellor's Professor at UC Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He has been active in the following research areas: integrated supply chain design and management, market mechanism design, applied optimization, and decision making with limited information. He is currently on the editorial/advisory board for several leading journals. He received the CAREER award from National Science Foundation in 2003.
