【Abstract】The fourth revolution of industry (Industry4.0) is reshaping all the segments of industries. Pulled by grand social challenges such as aging of population, automation technologies are dramatically “spilling out” from the traditional scenarios such as factories and workshops to all the scenarios of our everyday life. In this context, traditional service industries like healthcare and logistics are becoming automated and digitalized. Super convergence of technologies and disciplines is happening and many exciting research opportunities and challenges are being created. In this presentation, I will briefly introduce the history and enabling technologies of Industry4.0. Then I will focus on two segments of service industries, healthcare and logistics, to give specific examples about the impact caused by the automation and digitalization technologies. Market analysis, key technologies, some ongoing projects and future directions will be introduced.

【Short Bio】Dr. Zhibo Pang, received MBA in Innovation and Growth from University of Turku, Turku, Finland in 2012, and PhD in Electronic and Computer Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden in 2013. He is currently a Principal Scientist on Wireless Communications at ABB Corporate Research, Västerås, Sweden, leading research on digitalization solutions for smart buildings and homes, robotics and factories, and power electronics and power systems. He is also serving as Affiliated Faculty at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. Before joined ABB, he was co-founder and CTO of startups such as Ambigua Medito AB. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Co-Chair of TC in the Technical Committee on Industrial Informatics. He is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, and IEEE Reviews in Biomedical Engineering, Guest Editor of IEEE Access, Editorial Board of Journal of Management Analytics (Taylor & Francis), Journal of Industrial Information Integration (Elsevier), and International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing (WorldScientific).
