BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Lefei Li is a tenured associate professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Industrial Engineering of Tsinghua University. He is mainly engaged in scientific research and teaching in Systems Engineering and Service Science, as well as the intersections between these two sectors, culminating in the broader paradigm of Complex Social Systems. This integrated perspective promises comprehensive solutions aligned with modern complex systems and services in aerospace, logistics, transportation, high-end manufacturing, retailing and healthcare areas. He received his B.S. degree from Zhejiang University, and both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees received from the University of Arizona, Tucson, U.S.A in 2004 and 2006. He has been working in the Department of Industrial Engineering of Tsinghua University since September 2006.
Currently, Dr. Li is the Council Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering of Tsinghua University, Vice Dean of the Complex Systems Engineering Research Center of the Department of Industrial Engineering of Tsinghua University, Vice Dean of the Intelligent Logistics and Supply Chain System Research Center of Tsinghua University, Vice Dean of the Institute of Quality and Reliability of Tsinghua University, Executive Vice Dean of Institute of Interdisciplinary Medicine and Engineering of Tsinghua University, and former Deputy Mayor of Jiaozhou Municipal People’s Government in Shandong Province (suspended post).
He has been honored to provide a board spectrum of important academic service responsibilities including but not limited to editorial boards and organizing impactful international conferences. He currently serves as associate editor for various journals, including IEEE Intelligent Systems, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles (TIV), Asia-Pacific Journal of Operations Research (APJOR), and Digital Transformation & Society. Additionally, he is an editorial board member of ACTA Automatica Sinica-CAA. Dr. Li also actively participates in the organizations of major international conferences in Systems Engineering and Service Science. He served as Program Co-chair of Complex Systems Design & Management (CSD&M) Asia 2020 and Program Chair of CSD&M 2023. He also hosted International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Beijing summit 2020. Besides, he served as Session Co-chair for IEEE International Conference on Digital Twins and Parallel Intelligence (DTPI) conference in 2021 and Session Co-chair for Parallel Intelligence Conference (PIC) consecutively from 2021 to 2023.
Additionally, he has taken leadership roles in academic societies. He serves as the Assistant Director of the Academic Committee at INCOSE (2018-2023) and the Co-Chair of the Board of the INCOSE Beijing Chapter (2013-present). His service also includes the member of the Industrial Engineering Committee at The Chinese Institute of Electronics (2019-present).
