On April 22, a delegation from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), led by President Ewe Hong Tat, visited the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University. The two sides held a discussion meeting in Room 106 of the Shunde Building. Participants included Lai Soon Onn, Director of the Office of International Affairs at UTAR, and Yan Lei, Senior Professor at the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science. From Tsinghua University, Ma Liang, Assistant Director of the Department of Industrial Engineering, and Wang Haitao, Director of the International Master’s Program of the Department, attended the meeting.

Discussion Session
During the meeting, both sides introduced the development history, disciplinary structure, core strengths, and internationalization progress of their respective universities and departments. They conducted in-depth discussions on the training schemes, implementation pathways, and management experiences of student exchange programs, and shared practical cases and valuable experience in cross-institutional student cultivation.
In light of industrial development trends and talent demands within the ASEAN region, the two sides further discussed a collaborative “university-enterprise-university” talent cultivation model. Relying on the industrial presence of Chinese enterprises in Southeast Asia, they proposed promoting practice-oriented talent training cooperation to enhance students’ international competitiveness as well as their practical and innovative capabilities.
This exchange effectively strengthened mutual understanding and trust between the two universities, laying a solid foundation for future multi-level and high-quality international cooperation in the field of industrial engineering.
