On April 19, international students and Chinese MEM students took part in a one-day cultural and experiential learning activity on the outskirts of Beijing. The activity aimed to strengthen interaction between Chinese and international students while offering participants an opportunity to better understand Beijing’s historical heritage and Olympic legacy.

In the morning, the group visited the Guyaju Caves, an ancient cliff-dwelling site known for its unique architectural form and historical significance. Walking through the cave complex, students explored the spatial layout and construction features of the site while learning about its cultural background. The visit also provided an informal setting for students from different countries and academic programs to communicate and get to know one another.

In the afternoon, the students visited the outdoor venues of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, including the areas related to the bobsleigh and skeleton tracks. By observing the Olympic facilities on site, students gained a more direct understanding of the scale, design, and operational requirements behind major international sporting events.

The activity was part of the international master’s program’s initiatives to promote learning beyond the classroom. Conducted alongside MEM Chinese students, it offered a platform for cross-cultural interaction and collaboration. Through cultural visits and joint experiences, students deepened mutual understanding, built cross-cultural connections, and gained insights into Beijing’s history, culture, and contemporary life.
